The Canadian Camelid Fibre Co-operative (CanCam) is a service cooperative that collects, classes, and processes alpaca and llama fibre into quality finished product including woolen yarn, worsted yarn, socks, blankets and rugs on behalf of it's camelid fiber producing members. The finished product is distributed back to members for individual farm gate sales or consigned to the Creation Centre for central marketing.

CanCam was incorporated in Alberta, Canada in December 1999 for the purpose of:

  • Engaging in activities which will allow Camelid breeders to develop markets for camelid fibre and end products made from this fibre;
  • Providing access to affordable and appropriate camelid fibre processing facilities;
  • Developing a structured quality control and grading system for camelid fibre

Alpaca Sales

"I am always telling you that it is all rubbish," she continued, turning a broad expanse of alpaca-covered back upon her audience. "I am always telling you that you are no more a count than Fischelowitz is a grand duke, that the whole thing is a foolish imagination which you have stuck into your head, as one sticks tobacco into a paper shell..."
