Gateway's Aberdare

| Print |

Gateway's Aberdare is a nice example of the progress made in our breeding program over the past few years.  This girl demonstrates just what can happen when one strives for excellence.

Name: Gateway's Aberdare

ARI#: 1241501

DOB: September 19, 2006

Color: Medium Fawn

Sire: ABA Poseidon

Dam: Gateway's Olivia

Aberdare has well recognized names on both sides of her pedigree, showing such names as Peruvian Don Julio, PPeruvian Leon and Park Avenue.

The lineage of her sire is 100% Peruvian and primarily white.

The lineage of her dam reveals color genetics that the savvy breeder can use to their advantage.  Her grandsire, CSA Mahogany, is a medium brown boy produced by crossing PPeruvian Leon with a true black dam, R.V. Chantely Lace. Her Grand Dam, Gateway's Sierra, is a medium brown girl produced by a cross of Park Avenue with a true black dam, TBR Quinta.

Aberdare is conformationally sound and has dense, fine fleece.  We expect very good things from this girl!

Value:  $25,000

Alpaca Sales

"Manufactures from their hair more resemble silk than woolen stuffs, and some of those made of the Alpaca fleece, are quite black, without having been dyed. It has been a matter of surprise to many, that they are not naturalized in this country, as the climate would not be an obstacle to success. The demand, however, for their produce so much, increases, that it is very probable they may at some future time become denizens of our mountainous districts..."
